WAUSAU (WAOW)--Over the past two months, customers at 5 Trig's grocery stores in North Central Wisconsin helped stuff-a-truck with food donations. Marketing spokesperson, Maggie Myszka said, "Our five stores filled the semi with pallets full of groceries to help the needy."
The grocery chain has stores in Wausau, Stevens Point, Minocqua, Eagle River and Rhinelander. Myszka says donations will be made to food pantry programs that serve those areas.
This morning (Wed. March 14th) a semi filled with donations left the Wausau Trig's location and dropped off a donation to the Neighbors' Place in Wausau. The pantry is a member of the Marathon County Hunger Coalition. The group formed two years ago, to eliminate hunger and improve the health of people who rely on food assistance programs. It is made up of 9 pantry partners across Marathon County and a number of other organizations.
Neighbors' Place Director, Tom Rau said, "These donations are especially important right now, because after the holiday season, donations often dwindle. The need of people who cannot afford to put food on their tables does not go away. This donation makes a big difference to the our organization and will also help others in the coalition that need supplies."
