Wausau teacher to enter 85th Assembly race

A Wausau teacher plans to enter the race for the 85th Assembly seat.

Mandy Wright, a 6th grade teacher at Horace Mann Elementary, will announce her candidacy Sunday, March 18, at Wausau's 400 Block. The announcement is scheduled to run from 12:00-1:00 p.m.

Wright told Newsline 9 she is running as a Democrat on a platform of job creation, education, health care, and the environment.

"I want to represent our community in a fair and balanced way," said Wright.

Wright lives in Wausau with her husband and three daughters.

The 85th Assembly seat is currently held by Democratic State Rep. Donna Seidel. Seidel recently announced her intention to run in the 29th Senate recall race against Republican State Sen. Pam Galloway.

Pat Snyder, a radio talk show host at WSAU, recently announced his candidacy as a Republican for the 85th Assembly.
