(WAOW) - The girls' high school basketball playoffs continued with sectional semifinal action on Thursday.
In division five, Newman and Assumption met for the third time this season. In their first two matchups, the Cardinals won both games by a combined seven points. But Thursday, they stormed out of the gates and never looked back, beating Assumption 58-31 to advance to the sectional final.
Owen-Withee also moved on in the division five playoffs with a 66-31 win over Marshfield Columbus.
In division four, Edgar and Marathon met for the third time this season. The playoff result was much of the same, as the Wildcats handed Marathon a 41-31 loss.
Also in division four, Neillsville stayed unbeaten with a tough, 46-45 win over Fennimore in overtime.
Finally, in division one, Marshfield had a terrific shooting night, led by Caitlin Michaelis' 22 points and the Tigers beat Chippewa Falls 59-43.
