MADISON (WAOW) - We may not have had a team from our viewing area at the boys state tournament, but we did have some local connections. Among those, former UW-Stevens Point guard Khalif El-Amin is in his first season as an assistant coach at Milwaukee King High School.

El-Amin was known for his sharp-shooting skills. In high school he won a three point shooting contest at a tournament in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He also helped king win a pair of WIAA championships.

At UW-Stevens Point, El-Amin helped the Pointers win two WIAC titles. He scored 901 points, ranking 38th all-time in school history.

After graduation he wanted to break into the coaching profession. He's working with his father in Milwaukee and joined the King coaching staff. It wasn't too long ago he was playing for the Generals. Now he's lending his expertise to King's current generation.
