William Basil Bruce III, age 66, of Stevens Point, WI died on March 15, 2012 at ST. Joseph's Hospital after fighting cancer for 10 years. He was raised in Farmville, VA and graduated from Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, VA. Following high school he served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Forrestal during the Vietnam era. He received a pharmacy degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago and a nursing degree from North Central Technical College, Wausau. He worked his whole career as a pharmacist in various stores throughout central WI. He volunteered in his spare time doing painting projects for his church, Oak Hill Academy and the Central Wisconsin Children's Museum.
He is survived by his sister Margaret Rothwell Wray of Augusta, GA, an Aunt, Nancy B. Noel of Farmville, VA. and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother Margaret Davidson Bruce and father William Basil Bruce Jr.
A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 24 at 11:30 AM followed by lunch served at 12:15. He will be buried in the family cemetery plot in Farmville, VA.
