Robert L. Hille, age 80, of 2608 Atwell Street, Stevens Point, died at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield on March 16, 2012, as a result of injuries sustained in a fall at his home.
Bob was born December 27, 1931 to the late Max and Helen (Glaeser) Hille in Tigerton, WI. He graduated from Tigerton High School in 1950, where he was a member of the basketball team and was later inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame.
After high school, Bob served in the Air Force from 1952-1956. Following his military service, he received a bachelors degree from UW-Whitewater.
Bob married Betty Krienke August 30, 1958, in Split Rock, WI.
In his early career Bob taught high school in Clintonville, Wisconsin Rapids and Neenah. In 1967, after obtaining a masters degree from Colorado State (Greeley), he accepted a position at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. He subsequently earned a doctorate in education from the University of Montana (Missoula), later becoming Chair of the Department of Business Education at UWSP. After retirement in 1998 he enjoyed his Florida home during the winter.
Bob enjoyed traveling, bicycling, photography, baseball, history, and loved cats. He will be remembered for his involvement with his family, particularly his children, and his sense of humor.
Survivors include his daughter, Darcy Hille of Philadelphia PA; son, Tom Hille of Stevens Point; sister, Ella Forrest of Tigerton; and brother, Martin Hille of Tigerton. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, and brothers, Art Hille and Ervin "Cappy" Hille.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24 at Zion Lutheran Church in Tigerton, WI. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
