CLERMONT, Fla. – The UW-Stevens Point softball returned from an off-day on Wednesday but were unable to produce a win, falling to Elmhurst College 9-1 and Frostburg State 2-0 at the National Training Center in Florida.
The Pointers were held to just two hits in the opener against Elmhurst, as Katie Krueger (Plover, WI/SPASH) and Paige Meulemans (Appleton, WI/Kimberly) both tallied hits and Krueger drove in the Pointers only run against the BlueJays (11-3).
Sara Babbitts (Green Bay, WI/Ashwaubenon) suffered the loss, allowing five earned runs and nine hits.
In the nightcap, the Pointers and Bobcats were scoreless through five innings until Frostburg (8-10) pushed two runs across for the game's only scores.
Michelle Jones (Madison, WI/La Follette) suffered the loss, allowing both earned runs on four hits, striking out three.
The Pointers (6-6) return to action on Friday, March 23 with games against Bethel University and Eastern Connecticut State. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. in Clermont, Fla.
