UPDATE: Name released in Vilas Co. pedestrian fatality
VILAS COUNTY (WAOW)---A 19-year-old faces charges after hitting a man with her car in St. Germain. The man, 31-year-old Casey Anderson, was found dead early Saturday morning on STH 155.
Authorities say the driver left the scene after the crash, but returned later with her boyfriend.
A spokesperson for the Vilas Co. Sheriff's office tells Newsline 9 the driver had alcohol in her system at the time of the crash. But, they say alcohol was not a factor. Her name has not yet been released.
The 19-year-old driver faces charges for underage drinking, but more charges could be in the works.
Authorities say they don't know if Anderson was already dead when he was struck by the vehicle.
"The driving conditions at that time were foggy, night time, and limited visibility," Kennedy said.
Investigators say an autopsy needs to be done before more charges can be filed.
The autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
VILAS COUNTY (WAOW) - A pedestrian fatality in St. Germain was reported by the Vilas County Sheriff's Office at 12:16 this morning.
An officer found the victim, a 31-year-old male from the Sayner area, laying on STH 155. The man was found dead at the scene. He appeared to have been hit by a car.
Vilas County Sheriff's Office, St. Germain Fire and Rescue, Medic 5, Plum Lake Ambulance and Vilas County Coroner's Office responded to the scene.
The fatality is still under investigation by the Sheriff's Office and the Coroner's Office.
