Ernest A. Wyhuske, age 87, of Stevens Point, died March 25, 2012 at St Clare's Hospital in Weston, WI.
Ernest was born September 7, 1924 to the late Nicholas & Clara (Lila) Wojciehoski in Stevens Point, WI. He grew up here, attended St Peter Catholic Grade School, and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School.
He was enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps on March 24, 1943. He served in the Central Pacific Area from 1944 to 1945. During his time of service, Ernest received a Certificate of Satisfactory Service; was issued 2 Honorable Service medals; and a Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on December 17, 1945.
He married Loretta Mansavage on July 9, 1949 at St Stanislaus Catholic Church.
After his time of service, Ernest returned to Stevens Point and found employment a local paper mill. He later left the mill to work for the Copps Corporation. Ernest worked in the warehouse for a number of years and later was promoted to truck driver. After 40 years with the Copps Corporation, Ernest retired. During his retirement, he found part time work at the Mobil Gas Station on Hwy 66.
Ernest will be remembered for his loving, kindhearted, & loyal nature. He took great pride in being able to provide for his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren. In earlier years, he enjoyed hunting & fishing. Ernest also loved to cook & grill; and enjoyed gardening in his spare time. He was an active member at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church as an usher and was a member of the Holy Name Society. Ernest was a past treasurer for the Pacelli High School Athletic Association. He was very active within Pacelli School. Ernest enjoyed assisting with Pacelli Panacea, in addition to being a chaperone for many of the school's athletic events.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta of Stevens Point; children, Claire Wyhuske of Madison & Debra (Kurt) Hofmeister of Stevens Point; daughter in law, Mary Jo (Bob) Choudoir of Polonia; 3 precious grandchildren, Mallory, Wade, & Paul; brother, Florian (Grace) Wojciehoski of Stevens Point; sister Florence Glodoski of TN; and many nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; beloved son, Nicholas; son in law, Kurt; and brother, Norbert.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 29, 2012 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Stevens Point with Rev. George Thanyilkuzhithottu MSFS officiating. A time of Visitation will be held on Wednesday for 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Boston Funeral Home and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Private burial will take place in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Ernest was an integral part of his family's life. He will be sincerely missed.
