Plover Dunkin Donuts opening stirs up mixed feelings in business owners
Several people are getting ready for a taste of Dunkin.
"Everyday there are people stopping in," said Kim DelCastillo, Dunkin Donuts General Manager.
"I'm looking forward to my first Dunkin doughnut," said Tim Durigan.
Dunkin Donuts is scheduled to open April 21, but not everyone in the area is excited.
"I really feel it will take away from our local businesses being a larger corporation," said Linda Sikorski, a Plover resident.
Linda Sikorski owns her own hair salon, and can relate to how difficult it is to compete with chains like Dunkin. She said it's especially tough for her to watch local businesses shut down as bigger stores move in.
"We've had the demise of several local businesses going under," said Sikorski.
But, other area businesses welcome the new store. Tim Durigan, the manager of the local Toyota dealership said he's one of them.
"We are excited for obvious reasons. It generates new business to the Village Park at Plover," said Durigan.
And the prospect of job creation spurred by Dunkin Donuts has had area residents scrambling to land a job.
"We had three open interview days and we were definitely inundated with about 150 applications," said DelCastillo.
But, most people are just excited to score a cup of Dunkin's joe.
"I'm sure there will be a lot of our staff over there," said Durigan.
