CONIFER, Colo. (AP) -- Investigators are trying to determine what killed a person whose body was found amid a Colorado wildfire that destroyed at least five homes.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department hasn't released the victim's name or any other details.

Investigators say the body was found late Monday after the wind-driven wildfire spread across more than 4 1/2 square miles in a matter of hours.

The fire was only five acres -- roughly four football fields -- when it was reported at midday Monday.

Authorities ordered residents of more than 900 homes to evacuate. There's no word on when they can return.

Authorities say the fire may have been caused by a prescribed burn that was conducted in the area last week and sprang back to life amid high winds.
