STEVENS POINT (WAOW)--The founder of the Taste of the NFL returned to his hometown of Stevens Point. Wayne Kostroski, now lives in Minnesota, and served as the keynote speaker during the Portage County Business Expo. Kostroski said, " I love coming home and talking with business leaders here. It is great to see these businesses coming together to share ideas, and making a commitment to their community."
Kostroski founded the Taste of the NFL in 1992, while serving as chairmen of the restaurant committee for the Super Bowl. He also created an event that known as Party with a Purpose. It is held on the eve of Super Bowl Sunday. Chefs from cities that have NFL teams are paired with current or former NFL players. Together, they create a dish for the event.
The Taste of the NFL is a nonprofit organization that has raised 11 million dollars to fight hunger. Kostroski says the success of the organization is based the idea of giving something back to your community.
Portage County business leaders took that to heart during the expo, collecting foods which will be donated to area food pantries.
