Illinois hires UWGB's Bollant to lead women's team
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois has named University of Wisconsin-Green Bay's Matt Bollant as its new women's basketball coach.
A school official with knowledge of the decision says Bollant has been hired and will be introduced at a Wednesday news conference in Champaign. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because Bollant's hiring hasn't been officially announced.
Bollant's Wisconsin-Green Bay team finished this season 31-2 and made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament. The 41-year-old coach was 148-19 in five seasons at Green Bay. Four of his teams made the NCAA tournament.
Bollant replaces Jolette Law, who was fired at the end of the season. Law was 69-93 in five seasons with the Illini.
Before taking over in Green Bay, Bollant coached at Bryan College, an NAIA school in Tennessee.
