Rita M. Patoka

Rita M. Patoka, 81, of 1920 Ellis Road Custer, died Tuesday March 27, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. She was under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice. Rita was born on May 31, 1930 in the town of Stockton.

She was the daughter of the late Edward & Agnes (Gumney) Cieslewicz. She attended Prairie Grade school in the town of Stockton and graduated from PJ Jacobs High School in 1948.

Her marriage to Clifford Patoka took place on May 13, 1950 at St. Mary's of Mount Carmel Catholic Church Fancher. The couple lived in Nelsonville most of their married life, finally settling in the town of Ellis in 2003. 

Rita worked part time in the summers at Del Monte in Plover for 22 years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart and St. Mary's Rosary Society's. She was past President of St. Mary's Rosary Society and Past Secretary for the Sacred Heart Rosary Society. She served 2 years as President of the Stevens Point Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Deanery.

Survivors include her husband, Clifford Patoka of Custer. Sons, William (Carol) Patoka and Robert (Mary) Patoka both of Amherst. Daughter, Barbara Jean (Kenneth) Richter of Rosholt.

8 Grandchildren, Jodie (Joe) Patoka, Nicole (Chad) Wheritt, Amanda (Sean) Finlaw, Megan Patoka, Eric (fiancé Kari), Keith (Sara), Matthew (Candice), Lindsay Richter.

10 Great Grandchildren, Shelby & Veronica Richter, Mallory, Aubrey and Kale Richter, Riley, Brady and Carlee Patoka, Mylah & Nolan Finlaw.

Preceded in by one infant son and two brothers.

Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:30am on Saturday March 31, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Polonia, The Rev. Greg Michaud, will be officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary's of Mount Carmel cemetery. Visitation on Friday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home 703 Second Street Stevens Point and again on Saturday from 9:30 am until time of service at the church. St. Mary of Mount Carmel and Sacred Heart Rosary Society's will combine with the parish rosary at 7:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
