Deacon Donald A. Borski, 74, Stevens Point, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Stevens Point Care Center under the care Ministry Health Care Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday April 2, 2012 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church. The Most Reverend William Patrick Callahan, OFM. Conv., Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of La Crosse will officiate. Visitation will be at Shuda Funeral Chapel – Stevens Point Sunday evening from 4:00 - 8:00. The Knights of Columbus of which Donald was former Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree, will combine with a general rosary to be prayed at 7:00 pm Sunday evening at the funeral chapel. Visitation will also be from 9:30 AM on Monday until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Fourth Degree Honor Guard will also be present. A memorial, in lieu of flowers, has been established to St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church.
Mr. Borski was born on June 23, 1937 in Stevens Point to Adolph and Theresa (King) Borski. He attended P.J. Jacobs High School graduating in 1955. He also attended St. Bonaventure Minor Seminary for one year. Donald served in the United States Air Force for 4 years from 1957 to 1961, three years of which were served in Japan. Upon returning to Stevens Point he was employed by Consolidated Papers, Wisconsin River Division, where he worked for 37 years retiring in June of 1999.
On August 29, 1970 Donald Borski and Rita (Schulist) Borski were united in Marriage at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Stevens Point. Special occasions in almost 42 years of marriage were then highlighted by the birth of their children, Susan Marie, 1971 and Andrew Peter, 1973. Their children's marriages added a son-in-law and daughter-in-law and the births of their 4 grandchildren were especially admired and made for a complete and wonderful family life.
Mr. Borski joined the Diocese of La Crosse Diaconate studies program and was ordained a Deacon in December, 1999. He has served as Deacon at St. Stanislaus Kostka Parrish in Stevens Point for 12 years, retiring as Senior Deacon in June of 2011.
Not only did Deacon Borski enjoy his ministry at St. Stanislaus but, he had a special life long ministry. Donald handcrafted rosaries which have been used at local nursing homes. Thousands of his special made rosaries were also sent to Missions through out the world.
Deacon Borski is survived by his wife, Rita; daughter, Sue (Jake) Ayers, Forest Lake, MN; their children, Grant and Gabby; son, Andy (Jenn) Borski and their children, Autumn and Piper; one sister, Bonnie (Gary) Simonson; one sister-in-law, Loretta (Adolph Jr.) Borski; special Aunt Virginia Stanislawski of Stevens Point. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, cousins, parishioners and special friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Lawrence and Adolph Borski Jr.
