Gas prices near $4 a gallon

Gas prices are up for the 20th straight day.

According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of regular gas is $3.92.

Some gas stations in Wausau are nearing the $4 mark. That's the highest it's been at this time of year in 20 years.

But it's not just the Wausau area. People in Oneida County were paying $3.98 as of Thursday afternoon. That's six cents higher than the national average.

These high prices have many people trying to find ways to cut back.

"Maybe it's limiting trips or not going as far as you have in the past," said Rhinelander resident Brent Sundby.

Some gas station owners also say they're also feeling the pinch, and they don't see a light at the end of the tunnel.

"We're working on next to low margins, very low margins and we're doing what we can to keep the pricing down for the consumer," said Keith Rybacki, a BP gas station owner in Wausau.

Many people told Newsline 9 they're using any payment method they can to fill up. Gas station owners said they've seen people using quarters, dollar bills, and credit cards to pay.
