Tours of Wis. governor's mansion start Thursday

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Tours of the Wisconsin governor's mansion begin Thursday and run through the end of August.

The public tours are offered every Thursday during that time between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Gov. Scott Walker splits his time between the executive resident in the Madison enclave of Maple Bluff and his home in Wauwatosa.

The free guided tours last about half an hour and include a historical account of the rooms on the first floor of the house. Visitors can also walk the grounds.

Designed by Madison architect Frank Riley, the governor's mansion has been home to 14 governors and their families since 1949.
