Irene A. Larson, 93, Wittenberg, died on Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg. She was born on September 28, 1918 in Tigerton, the daughter of the late Herman and Emma (Yonker) Malitz. On July 27, 1935, Irene was united in marriage to Einar Larson in Tigerton. He preceded her in death on January 4, 1995.
Irene started the hot lunch programs at the former Loken and Norway Schools both in the Town of Morris. She was a nurse at the former Tigerton Hospital until moving to Shawano, and then worked at J.C. Penney. Irene was a past member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Township of Morris, Shawano County, Zion Lutheran Church, Shawano and was active in the Ladie's Aid and WELCA. She was currently a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wittenberg. Irene enjoyed her card clubs and did beautiful embroidery work.
Survivors include a daughter, Gail (Bob) Koehler, Wittenberg; three grandchildren, Todd (Ana) Koehler, Dilynn (Tom) Koehler, Brent Koehler and five great-grandchildren, Kaileah, Zachary, Maria, Spencer and Eli and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Irene was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lychelle Koehler; a brother Milton Malitz and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
The Funeral service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wittenberg. The Rev. Amy Meyer will officiate. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Township of Morris. Visitation will be from 9AM until the time of service at the church.
