SPASH softball preview and Tuesday Sports Report

The SPASH softball team won the state championship last season, but will face some challenges at the beginning of this season.

First of all, the Panthers  have some minor injury issues to work through, starting with the season opener this Thursday against Bay Port.

They'll also be playing the season with a target on their backs.  That comes with winning a state title.  SPASH lost six seniors from last year's team. That includes First Team All-State player Kelly Franks, who won 22 of the Panthers' 27 victories.

Coach Tom Drohner says the state title is still within reach; because the current Panthers team boasts one of the best offenses and defenses the team has had since he's been there.
