Romney turns from primary, toward Obama

Associated Press

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Mitt Romney is turning away from his primary opponents and toward Democratic President Barack Obama after sweeping three more Republican contests.

Romney is set Wednesday to take the same stage that Obama used to attack his likely Republican rival in a speech to newspaper editors in Washington. The former Massachusetts governor plans to address the Newspaper Association of America, a day after Obama spoke to the annual meeting of The Associated Press.

Romney won primaries in Maryland, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia on Tuesday, widening his delegate lead over rival Rick Santorum. He's calling the election a "basic choice" between Obama's views and his own.
