Iran stops selling oil to 2 Greek companies

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- Iran's state-run Press TV is reporting the country has stopped selling oil to 2 Greek oil companies because they failed to pay their bills.

Thursday's report by the English-language channel says the two companies that have been barred from purchasing Iranian crude are Hellenic Petroleum and Motor Oil Hellas.

The report does not say how much debt the companies have.

In February, Iran warned it may extend an earlier oil embargo imposed on Britain and France to other European countries.

That decision came in response to the EU embargo on Iranian oil in January set to pressure Tehran in coming summer on its controversial nuclear program.

The West suspects Iran is trying to develop atomic weapons, a charge Iran denies.
