The Rhinelander baseball team breezed through its conference schedule without a loss last year.  But the Hodags season came to an abrupt end in the first round of the playoffs.
Rhinelander ranked 18th in Division 1.  They look to go 2-0 as they face Mosinee Thursday.

Rhinelander wins 12-0, and stays undefeated in the early season.

Lakeland driving south on 51 to face DC Everest.  Jared Hoekstra had an incredible game on the mound.  Between the first and third innings, Hoekstra struck out 7 straight batters.

He struck out 15 total batters in the game, combining with an Evergreens reliever to strike out 21 T-Birds batters in a seven inning game.   The only batter who didn't strike out for Lakeland was the final one of the day.  The Evergreens had one strikeout get away from the catcher.  DC Everest won, 8-0 in seven innings.
A bit further south,  The Northland/Wisconsin Valley Lutheran co-op hosted Elcho. The Wildcats went on to win 10-0 in five innings.
