DNR and the National Weather Service issue high fire danger warning in Wis.

WAUSAU (WAOW) -- The DNR and the National Weather Service have issued a high fire danger warning.

The warning is issued when there is a high risk for forest fires. Officials say strong winds, warm weather and low humidity are causing the risk. Burn restrictions have been put in place in most counties across the state. Officials from the Wausau Fire Department said the restrictions need to be taken seriously.

"No burning is recommended at all, even grills, outdoor smoking, operating vehicles, even if you have a burning permit, you really shouldn't, they will not allow burning," said Michael Tulisaari, firefighter at Wausau Fire Department.

The red flag warning lasts until 8 p.m., but officials say as long as these dry conditions continue, so will high fire danger in the state.
