Marathon County board position down to the luck of the draw
MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) - A Marathon County Board of Supervisors position will come down to the luck of the draw. District 19 drew 23 votes on election night. But the leading vote-getters were write-ins Oliver Burrows and John Rhyner, with two votes each.
Marathon County Clerk Nan Kottke tells Newsline 9 the law calls for a tie-breaker, whether by drawing a card or straws, to determine the winner.
Kottke says she's been informed by Rhyner that he is not interested in the position.
If Burrows wins by the luck of the draw and accepts, he would be certified the winner. If he's unsuccessful he could ask for a recount of the four votes. If Rhyner wins and does not accept, it would be up to the County Board Chairman to appoint a winner.
