MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW)--The man accused of trying to cover up a crash in Marathon County reached a plea deal today.
24-year-old Jacob Pitt pleaded no contest to obstructing an officer. He was also found guilty of several other counts, including not notifying police of an accident.
Back in January, police say Pitt crashed his truck into a tree in the town of Emmett. According to records, he then called a friend, who was an off-duty EMT, to help.
Authorities say Pitt did not notify police until more than 18 hours after the crash. A passenger in the truck sustained serious injured.
Pitt is set to pay several hundred dollars in fines.
