Monday Sports Report - 04/09

The Wausau East baseball team surprised many in the area last year, when the Lumberjacks reached the sectional round of the playoffs.

A team also looking to surprise is the Newman Catholic team, who hope to improve on last season's 14-4 record.

They both met today at Wausau East. Great start for the Lumberjacks.  Scott Kieper with a pair of Ks in the top of the first. And in the bottom of the first the Lumberjacks have the bases loaded.  A wild pitch and Brett Simon hit puts East out in front 5-0.

The 'Jacks will hold on to win 10-0 in five innings.

Marathon and Rib Lake were both ranked in the preseason top 20 in Division 3.  They both met Monday in Marathon.
First inning is a big one for the Redmen.  Two on, Taran Dohrwardt at the plate, and he goes lift off on an offering to bring home Zach Butera and Zach Iverson.
Rib Lake up 3-0 at that point and the Redmen will hang on, winning 9-7.
Last year's state runner up Assumption traveling to Eau Claire to take on Regis.  The Royals win this one 4-1.
