State officials urge people to file electronically. Rick Chandler, Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Revenue, says more than 80 percent of people in Wisconsin tried this last year. He says e-filing is a quick way to get your refund.
"People do find it's very, very easy," said Chandler. "People who try e-filing never want to go back to the old way of filing."
If you need extra time, you can file an extension. Just be sure to pay what you expect to owe, Chandler said, or you will be charged interest.
