Coroner: Alcohol ruled contributing factor in death of UW-SP student

Posted:

STEVENS POINT (WAOW)--Stevens Point Coroner Scott Rifleman says the blood alcohol content for UWSP student Eric Duffey was .196, and says that was a contributing factor in his death.

Officials say his death was ruled an accidental drowning.

Duffey was out celebrating his 21st birthday at Joe's Bar in downtown Stevens Point on March 3rd. Officials say he left the bar, and told friends he was heading home.

His body was found in the Wisconsin River in Stevens Point just two days later.

Investigators say they may never know why he was walking in that direction.
