Gubernatorial candidate Tom Barrett visits Wausau

WAUSAU (WAOW)--Gubernatorial candidate Tom Barrett is on a campaign tour of the Northwoods. Barrett stopped in Wausau with former U.S. Representative Dave Obey.

Barrett says Governor Scott Walker has caused division in the state of Wisconsin with his handling of public labor unions. He says that division is nothing short of a civil war and draws attention away from what really needs to be the focus: job creation.

Barrett says if elected Governor, he will call the legislature into special session in hopes that the collective bargaining law is overturned.

Dave Obey has endorsed Barrett. He says that Barrett has the know how to bring politicians in Madison and the people of the state together.

Barrett and Obey are on two day tour of the northern part of Wisconsin.

Barrett faces former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, Secretary of State Doug La Follette and State Sen. Kathleen Vinehout in a May 8th primary.

The winner will face the winner of the Republican primary in the general election.
