WAUSAU (WAOW)--The 2012 Badger State Winter Games are in the books and the organizers are calling it a financial success.
The Wausau/Central Wisconsin Convention and Visitors Bureau's Sports Authority purchased the rights to both the summer and winter games from the Wisconsin Sports Development Corporation of Madison for $15,000 in January.
That gave the Sports Authority just one month to get the games in order. Executive Director of the Sports Authority, Darien Schaefer says the financial analysis looks good, "We had revenue of $69,000 and expenses of $59,000, that means we had a profit of $10,000."
A news release from the Sports Authority breaks down the estimated economic impact for the area at $595,722. 1400 athletes took part in the winter games.
The sports authority is now readying for the upcoming summer games badgerstategames.org and next winter's games.
