OSHKOSH, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team opened the spring portion of its schedule on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Titans of UW-Oshkosh by a score of 9-0.
The tandem of Allison Fortier (Rhinelander, WI/Rhinelander) and Monica Preisig (Wausau, WI/West) nearly pulled off the victory at No. 2 doubles, but fell 8-6 to the Titan pairing of Megan Etten and Preslee Nolte.
Trailing 3-0 after doubles, the Pointers pushed three matches to a third-set tiebreak. Rachel Brown (Neenah, WI/St. Mary Central) took UWO's Emily Bostwick to a third set tiebreak but fell 6-3, 4-6, 10-7. After winning the first set 6-2, Taylor Weuve (Green Bay, WI/Preble)had her No. 2 singles match forced into a tiebreak where she fell 10-4.
Katelyn Presti (Janesville, WI/Parker) also won her opening set against UWO's Megan Etten but dropped the second set to force a tiebreak, where she also fell by a score of 10-7.
The Pointers (2-10) return home for a match against St. Mary's (Minn.) on Sunday, April 15 beginning at 10:30 a.m.
