Police in a Nebraska town say one of four inmates who escaped from a Kansas jail walked into a local Wal-Mart to turn himself in.
Sgt. Gary Hovey of the North Platte Police Department said Wednesday that escapee Drew Wade told authorities he had phoned his father, who persuaded him to turn himself in. Hovey said Wade approached the Wal-Mart manager and asked the manager to call police.
The 21-year-old Wade and three other inmates escaped early Wednesday from the Ottawa County Jail in Minneapolis, Kan. The jail is about 120 miles west of Topeka -- and 240 miles southeast of North Platte, Neb.
One of the three other inmates was apprehended quickly, but a convicted murderer and another inmate remained at large Wednesday evening.
