The Amherst baseball team has finished in the top four of the Central Wisconsin Conference only once in the last four years. But at 4-0, the Falcons are currently atop the CWC standings. Bonduel entered Monday right behind with just one loss.
Amherst led 1-0 before Bonduel rallied to take a 2-1 lead. The Falcons, however, put together a late offensive outburst to win, 5-4.
On the softball field, Wausau West took down Wausau East 5-4 in a battle of cross-town rivals.
Valley leader Stevens Point scored five runs with two outs in the first, highlighted by a two-run home run from Angela Lange and the Panthers never looked back, beating DC Everest 17-0.
