Lauren Magiera grew up in Barrington, Illinois where she competed Gymnastics with her older sister winning a state championship in 2000.

After high school she accepted a Division 1 full scholarship to University of Alaska Anchorage, where she really developed into the person that she is today. She graduated with her Bachelors in Journalism and Public Communications with a concentration in Broadcast.

She began as an Intern and worked her way up to Sports Director working for the ABC Affiliate, and also at NBC. Living in Alaska for eight years was great exposure to The Last Frontier, and that is when her love for the outdoors really developed. Some of her favorite memories in Alaska include covering the Iditarod in below zero temperatures, catching plenty of monster fish, hiking, kayaking, camping, ice climbing on a glacier and ice fishing.

Lauren is really excited about moving to Wausau and hopes to stay involved in the outdoors as much as possible, along with being involved within the community by volunteering at the YMCA. Lauren plans to lead the sports department in thinking outside the box of "what sports has always been" and develop into a Newsline 9 Sports brand.
