The Wausau City Council voted Tuesday to create a supervisor role for its school crossing guards.
The council had previously ended its contract with a California company called All-City Management Services.
Under city management, they'll pay the supervisor $6500. Officials say they'll save more than $11,000 by cutting ties with the California company.
Police Chief Jeff Hardel says Larry Jaeger already filled that role with the current company.
And he'll keep it under the new arrangement.
Jaeger will be in charge of hiring, recruiting and training.
A pool of substitute guards will also be created, so patrol officers won't have to fill in in a pinch.
