Ex-Trader Kerviel accuses SocGen of forgery

PARIS (AP) -- Ex-trader Jerome Kerviel has accused his former employer Societe Generale of alleged forgery and manipulation of evidence, ahead of an appeal against his three-year prison sentence over France's biggest rogue trading scandal.

The 35-year-old former banker, who begins a two-week appeal on June 4, claimed at a press conference Friday that audio recordings used as evidence at his 2010 trial had been manipulated.

"The part where I say that my superiors were kept informed and where I repeat that the bank knew what I was doing is all missing," alleged Kerviel, who was sitting next to his new lawyer David Koubbi.

Last week, Koubbi filed a suit against Societe Generale for obtaining a verdict under false pretences.

Kerviel said he'd gone through "hell" since revelations he gambled away $6.7 billion (euro4.9 billion) in risky bets at France's second biggest bank.

Societe Generale could not be reached for comment.
