UPDATED - Wausau Police say they've arrested 54 year old Jeffrey Krueger in connection with an attempted armed home invasion.
Krueger made his initial appearance in Marathon County court this afternoon. He pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of operating a firearm while intoxicated, disorderly conduct and computer message-threaten/obscenity.
His pre-trial is May 14th.
Wausau police say a 54-year-old man, armed with a rifle, tried to break into someone's home Sunday afternoon.
Officials responded to the 2500 block of Mount View Blvd around 4:30 p.m., after hearing reports of a man holding a rifle to his own head.
Police say the suspect kicked a door, and then went into the backyard.
Officers ordered the man to drop the rifle, and he did so without incident.
The man is in custody at this time.
He is charged with being armed while intoxicated, OWI, and disorderly conduct.
A scary situation in Wausau, Sunday afternoon. Police say a man armed with a riffle tried to break into a house.
Wausau police responded to the 2500 block of Mt. View Blvd. around 4:30 p.m.
When police arrived they saw the suspect trying to break in. The man was then taken into custody.
Police won't say who the man is, or why he was there.
"A person with a gun, behaving in a manner as this individual is a scary situation, and a dangerous situation," said Matt Barnes, Wausau Police Department. "The police responded with all our available officers."
Police say it took three officers to arrest the gunman. An investigation is ongoing.
