NEW YORK (AP) -- Dancing beat singing, at least for one week in the television ratings.
The Nielsen Co. said Tuesday that "Dancing With the Stars" topped its rival, "American Idol," to be the most-watched show of the week for the first time this season. It was ABC's biggest week in the prime-time ratings since last November, with the exception of the Academy Awards week.
The move of "Private Practice" to a new time slot of Tuesday at 10 p.m. paid off. The show had its largest audience in a year and a half.
Despite a sprinkling of repeats for its scripted shows, CBS still beat ABC for first place in the prime-time ratings.
