Thursday Sports Report - 05/03

Wausau native Amanda Fischer has been named the Louisville Slugger Division III Player of the Week for her outstanding performance by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

The Wausau West grad is already being honored for her role in UW-Eau Claire's success.  The Blugolds have secured the conference title for the first time since 2006. The team went undefeated.
Fischer herself finished with nine hits, including three HR, one triple onedouble and a team-record of 14 RBI.

Over to the soccer field, DC Everest and Wausau East were wearing purple to benefit the American Cancer Society on Thursday.
Elise Thuot had some tough luck midway through the first half, her shot hitting the crossbar from just outside the box.  But with three minutes left, Thuot would break through, sinking a shot from about 40 feet from net.  The Evergreens won at home, 3-0.
