Wis. Democrats make their case at final debate

The Democratic front-runners in this spring's recall elections are kicking off a debate by promising to deliver more jobs.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, former Dane County executive Kathleen Falk and two other Democrats will square off Tuesday in a primary for the right to face Republican Gov. Scott Walker in a June 5 general recall election.

The Democrats gathered Friday evening at Wisconsin Public Television's Madison studios for their last debate.

Barrett and Falk began by criticizing Walker for failing to jumpstart the economy. Barrett promised to focus on agriculture and small business. Falk said she'd reinvest in technical colleges and infrastructure.

Democrats have forced Walker and five other Republicans into recalls as payback for Walker's collective bargaining law, which strips most public workers of nearly all their union rights.
