Procession escorts fallen soldier to Orfordville

ORFORDVILLE (AP) -

The body of a Wisconsin soldier who was killed in Afghanistan has been returned to Orfordville.

Hundreds of residents lined the streets Saturday morning to watch a procession of vehicles escorting the family of 21-year-old Cpl. Benjamin H. Neal.

A chartered plane landed at the airport just after 9 a.m. A Janesville Gazette report says Neal's flag-covered casket was carried from the plane in a simple ceremony.

The procession from the airport to Orfordville included dozens of motorcycles ridden by the Patriot Guard Riders. People stood in intersections and driveways along the 18-mile route.

A public visitation will be Monday at 4 p.m., followed by a funeral Tuesday at 10 a.m.

The Pentagon says the decorated 21-year-old soldier was killed April 25 after enemy forces attacked his unit.
