Sullivan wins two titles, Pointers 8th at outdoor championships


WHITEWATER, Wis. – Dan Sullivan (Elkhorn, WI/Elkhorn) collected conference titles in the 800-meter and 1500-meter runs as the UW-Stevens Point men's outdoor track & field team finished eighth at the 2012 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by UW-Whitewater.

Sullivan, a sophomore, successfully defended his conference title in the 800-meter run, posting a time of 1:53.79 in the event finals.

Sullivan added another conference title, this time in the 1500-meter run, posting a time of 3:52.80.

Other highlights included:

Evan Hutichson finished fifth in the javelin throw with his toss of 52.64 meters (172' 8").

Babtunde Awosika (Milwaukee, WI/Milwaukee School of Arts) finished eighth in the 400-meter finals, posting a time of 50.60.

Tim Baker (Eau Claire, WI/Eau Claire North) finished eighth in the finals of the 400-meter hurdles, posting a time of 56.34.

Zachary Mixdorf (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) finished fifth in the high jump, clearing 1.95 meters (6', 4.75").

Alex Steiner (Chilton, WI/Chilton) and Ryan Wierzba (Rosholt, WI/Rosholt) finished in the top-9 in the 800-meter run, finishing fifth and ninth, respectively.

Brian Thill (Webster, WI/Webster) finished third in the decathlon, collecting 6416 points.
