Made in Wisconsin: Kohler

A Wisconsin company has been making toilets for more than a century and with millions sold worldwide, profits are going anywhere but down the drain.

"You're not going to want to leave this toilet," Kohler Interior Designer Travis Rotelli said.

And with a price tag of $6,400, Kohler designers say you shouldn't have to.

"It is motion activated so if you motion in front of the toilet it's going to automatically lift for you," Rotelli said.

Meet NUMI, the Kohler company's most advanced toilet.

"It's something that you'll definitely enjoy using every day."

This toilet plays music, has a heated seat and speaks ten different languages.

According to Rotelli, "Kohler has always prided themselves with staying one step ahead in the industry."

The company has been located in Kohler, Wisconsin since it was founded in 1873. But they make a lot more than just toilets.

"We always have something in our bag that will help meet the need or solve the problem that they're currently having in their existing space," Rotelli said.

From cast iron sinks in specialty colors, to specialty faucets and bathtubs, designers say their passion for home improvement runs deep.

"When they look at a Kohler toilet or they feel a Kohler faucet, you can feel the quality that's engineered in that product," Diana Schrage, a Kohler interior designer, told Newsline 9.

The brand is known worldwide, with locations on six continents. Company officials say Kohler's 30,000 employees keep the company on the cutting edge.

"We've revamped our flushing platform," Rotelli said.

Kohler has hundreds of varieties of toilets and with many, you can even customize your flush.

"They now flush quicker, they clean the bowl better, they're much faster," he said.

And it doesn't stop there. Kohler designers are constantly coming up with new ways to deliver water.

Schrage is always trying new things. "They can have it coming out of the ceiling, they can have it coming out of the wall, out of a mirror."

Making your bathroom or kitchen a work of art.

"And we know that every day that they're using that space we've impacted them positively by providing those solutions," she said.

Kohler employees say they're proud to be based in Wisconsin.

"We're still in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, yet we're touching global design every day," Schrage said.

Thanks to a commitment to quality, and the kitchen sink.
