Wisconsin Rapids linebacker Vince Biegel has been the top-ranked player in the state's senior class for quite some time, which is why it's no surprise that Thursday he made history.
Biegel was named the state's top high school football player at the first-ever Wisconsin Sports Awards.
The awards honor the top high school, college and professional athletes in the state. The awards are selected by a statewide panel and Biegel credited his family for his success after accepting his award.

Last season, the Rhinelander baseball team ran through the Great Northern Conference schedule without a loss and won the GNC title by a comfortable five games.
This year, they have some visitors at the top. Antigo entered Thursday tied with the Hodags at 7-2 in the GNC, but the Hodags came away with a 9-4 win to take control of the conference race.

The DC Everest softball team scored four times in the top of the 8th inning to take down Rhinelander 4-0.
