Post offices across the country participate in food drive
Post offices across the country are teaming up to stamp out hunger.
Wausau postal workers did their part by going door to door collecting bags of food for the nation's largest single-day food drive. Organizers said donations will help the local salvation army, and neighbor's place.
"It's an honor for us to be involved with the food drive. As we are out on our routes, we try to collect, you know, as much food as we can from our customers out there. We appreciate them putting out whatever they can," Jeff Brummond, Wausau Branch Letter Carrier President.
Last year, the food drive collected more than 70,000,000 pounds of food nationwide. About 40,000 pounds came from the Wausau area. This year postal leaders said they hope to surpass that amount.
