UPDATE: Name released of bicyclist killed when hit by car near Mosinee

MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) -

UPDATE - Authorities have released the name of the bicyclist killed Wednesday in Marathon Co.

Investigators say 44-year-old Tammy Gass was riding on County Road KK near Mosinee when she was hit by a car. 

 

According to the sheriff's department, the driver, 42- year-old Tracy Kruzicki told police he did not see Gass in time.

He was arrested for driving with a suspended license. Sheriff's investigators say they are still looking into exactly what happened and more charges could be filed. We were unable to reach Kruzicki for comment.

 

Friends of the family say Gass was the widow of Gregg Bednorski. Bednorski died riding his bike on the same road in 2008.

UPDATE - Marathon County authorities tell Newsline 9 the bicyclist who was hit by a car this morning died.  They say they'll release her name Thursday.

Marathon County authorities said a woman on a bike was hit by a car around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. They said she was unresponsive when they arrived at the scene.

Investigators tell us the woman was riding on County Road KK near Mosinee.

Both the bicyclist and the man driving the car were taken to Aspirus. Their names have not been released.

"Multiple injuries, bruises, contusions," said Marathon County Sheriff's department Lt. Dale Wisnewski, in regards to the woman's injuries. "It appears there were probably internal injuries as well."

Officials said the man told them he did not see the bicyclist in time to avoid hitting her. Investigators are still looking into exactly what happened.
