Storm damage in Wausau

In Wausau, the storm has left more than a thousand Wisconsin Public Service customers without power. As of 9 P.M. WPS reported 1125 customers were listed as offline.  Utility crews are working to get power restored.

The power outages were caused by high winds and trees falling which knocked down lines. Police tell Newsline this remains the source of most of the emergency calls they've taken.

On Wausau's west side, the high winds tore off the awning of a sign at a gas station on Stewart Avenue and also knocked down traffic signals and stop signs. Motorists are asked to use caution if out driving.
