MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Nyjer Morgan hit a solo home run in the first inning of Friday night's game against Pittsburgh, snapping his major league record of 138 straight plate appearances without an RBI to start the season.
The previous record was 125, by outfielder Herb Adams of the Chicago White Sox in 1950.
Morgan hit a pitch from Pirates starter Kevin Correia over the wall in right field, giving Milwaukee a 1-0 lead.
Morgan came into Friday's game batting .226, coming off an impressive 2011 season in which he hit .304 and played a critical role in the Brewers' march to the NL championship series.
