The Wausau Police Department says three teens are accused in a playground fire at Lincoln Elementary School.
Police say a 13 year old boy, a 14 year old boy, and a 14 year old girl, all students at John Muir Middle School, are accused in the case.
Investigators suspected the teens, after talking to other students at the fire scene on Monday.
A detective tells Newsline 9 that she believed the teens were trying to burn a school project when the playground caught fire.
This case is being referred to Social Services for charges of negligent handling of burning material.
Wausau police are questioning several potential suspects in a fire at Lincoln Elementary School on Monday.
Investigators tell Newsline 9 some children lit fire to a school project and it then burned a piece of specially designed  playground equipment. The equipment is often used by children with disabilities. Firefighters estimate damage  at $8,000.
The fire call came in at around noon. The school principal said students had already gone home for the day -- their last day of classes  before summer break.
