Republican announces campaign for 86th Assembly seat
MARATHON (WAOW) -
Small business owner Wayne Thorson says he intends to run for the 86th State Assembly seat. That's the seat currently held by Rep. Jerry Petrowski (R-Marathon). On Tuesday, Petrowski was elected to the State Senate during the recall election.
Thorson announced via press release that he will run as a Republican. Online campaign records show Thorson registered with the Government Accountability Board on May 30.
According to his press release, Thorson is the founder and president of Thorson Painting Inc. "I'm concerned that my children and my grandchildren won't be able to start their own businesses some day," Thorson is quoted as saying in the press release. "Economic freedom and growth made this country great, and I want to give back by helping future generations to live out the American dream."
Democrat Dennis Halkoski of Weston announced he would run for the seat in April.
